Saturday/Sunday April 16th and 17th

It Was Time to Cover Distance

Reminder: If you want to enlarge a picture, click/tap on it

The drive from Boleslawiec to Poznan went mostly north and took 3 hours. Most of it was on the A2 (4 lanes, 140 km/hr).

Checked in to the apartment.  It's in a large complex of 6 buildings (families and students).

Pleased with multiple rooms, enjoy the space to move around ($52/night).

It's a 25 minute walk to the Old Town Square (Ryneck) where the Town Hall (built in 1560) stands in the middle. (We did use Uber to get home once - 10 zts - $2.50)

The ceiling in the  Renaissance Room is amazing.

For those of you in Indianola, if Poland can continue using their courthouses for over 400 years, Warren County can do the same.

Oldest drawing of Poznan - from 1618

And the same buildings remain (albiet reconstructed)
There are some narrow ones next to the Town Hall -  called the Fish Seller Buildings

Poznan was 90% demolished during WW2, like most of Poland. Then there was Soviet Communism and now democracy.

Poland is way ahead of us in terms of food trucks. We see them everywhere. Wherever there's a vacant lot.

There's several across the street. One in particular caught our eye... A wood-fired pizza bus.

BuffBus is owned by a woman, her father bought it 20 years ago.

The oven gets to 700 degrees - pizza takes about 6 minutes.

Firewood is key in the driver's seat.

We had a salami and it was expensive at $7.50.

Today at a cafe (great mulled wine), the waitress knew without a word we spoke English. I asked her how.

"I can tell," she said.
"How," I asked and pressed.
"You don't look slavic, I can tell."

So, yet another country where we can't blend.

Tomorrow, onward to Torun and then Gdansk.
